Privacy policy
Last updated: 19 September 2026
HighGarden develops HighReader, an app for reading, listening, and language study. This policy explains what stays on your device and what information external services can receive. You do not need a HighReader account.
Privacy contact: highgarden0@gmail.com.
1. Your reading and study content
Page images, imported documents and text, recognized text, translations, folders, saved words and phrases, study progress, generated speech, playback history, and preferences are processed and stored locally. HighReader does not upload this content to HighGarden servers or external AI services, or include it in advertising requests. Your reading and study content is not sold or used by HighGarden to train cloud AI models.
The operating system protects the app's private storage. HighReader also encrypts its local database. These protections do not prevent someone with access to your unlocked device from viewing the app. Folder titles and page artwork may be visible in the operating system's playback controls while you listen.
2. Permissions and local processing
Camera access lets you capture pages. Photo and file pickers let you select material to import; the app uses the items you select. Text recognition, translation, and speech generation run on your device after any required resources have been installed. You can manage permissions in your device settings. Denying a permission can prevent the associated feature from working.
3. Network connections you request
When you import a web link, HighReader requests the page and may follow redirects. The destination websites receive the requested URL, your IP address, and standard network request information. A URL can itself contain personal information. Importing a link does not upload your other saved pages or study content.
Downloading voice models, language resources, or updates connects to their distribution services, which can include Hugging Face, GitHub, and Apple or Google services. These services can receive your IP address and download request information. These connections retrieve resources; they do not send your reading content for cloud processing.
Opening a policy, support page, external link, or advertisement connects to the relevant website or app. Its privacy policy applies to that interaction. This public website is hosted by GitHub Pages, which processes technical visitor information under the GitHub Privacy Statement. This website has no additional analytics or advertising scripts.
4. Advertising and consent
HighReader displays native ads supplied by Google AdMob. Google may process IP addresses and approximate location derived from them, device and app identifiers, advertising interactions, and diagnostic or performance information. This information supports ad delivery, measurement, security, and fraud prevention. Ad requests do not contain your page images, recognized text, translations, folder titles, or study data.
HighReader uses Google's User Messaging Platform to check whether ads can be requested and to present privacy choices where required. The choices available depend on your region and the configured advertising services. You can revisit available choices through the app's advertising privacy settings. Non-personalized or limited ads may still involve technical data processing; declining personalization does not necessarily stop all ads.
On iOS, tracking across other companies' apps or websites requires your App Tracking Transparency permission. You can change that permission in device settings. You can also manage the advertising identifier through the privacy settings offered by your operating system.
For Google's handling of information, retention, and privacy controls, see Google's Privacy Policy and How Google uses information from apps that use its services.
5. Retention and deletion
Your content remains in local storage until you delete it or remove the app. You can delete individual items and use the app's “Delete my data” control to remove your local user data. Removing the app removes its local app container under your operating system's behavior. Copies you exported or kept outside HighReader must be deleted separately.
HighGarden does not hold a server copy of your reading or study data that it can recover or delete for you. Local deletion does not erase information already processed independently by advertising, website, or download providers. Their retention and deletion controls are described in their policies.
If you email us, we receive your email address, message, and any attachments you choose to send. We use them to answer your request and retain them only as needed to resolve it, handle follow-up, or meet legal obligations. Avoid sending sensitive reading material. You can request deletion of support correspondence at the contact address above.
6. Your rights and choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or restrict processing of personal information, object to certain processing, withdraw consent, or complain to your local privacy authority. Contact us about information you have provided directly to HighGarden. For information held by a service described above, its privacy controls and contact process also apply. Withdrawing consent does not change the lawfulness of earlier processing.
External service providers may process information in countries other than your own, subject to the protections described in their policies. Essential reading and study operations remain on your device.
7. Children
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information to HighGarden, contact us using the address below. We will investigate the request and remove the information as appropriate.
8. Changes and contact
We may update this policy as the app and its services change. The current policy and its revision date are available at this address. For questions or privacy requests, email highgarden0@gmail.com.
